Starting solids, or weaning, can be all about the mess, without the stress.
Weaning is an exciting new chapter in your baby’s growth — a chance to explore flavours, textures, and the joy of eating together. It’s also a gentle opportunity to lay the foundations for good nutrition, without pressure or perfection. With calm guidance and simple, nourishing foods, you can support your baby to learn, discover, and enjoy this stage at their own pace. A milestone to savour, not stress over.
I know that the idea of starting solids can cause anxiety for some parents. That’s why I’m here to help.
When to Start
All babies develop at their own pace, and one of the most common questions I am asked is “how would we know when to start?’.
Which is a completely valid question.
NHS guidance is to start at 6 months, but it is important to know what to watch out for to know if your baby is ready.
First Foods
Making the change from just milk to adding any solid food can be daunting. Knowing what to offer, how to cook it, and when to offer it can be challenging. I can walk you through it, step by step.
Fussy Eating
Many parents worry that their little one may be a fussy eater. Introducing a variety of tastes and textures early on could help combat this, and being familiar with peaceful mealtimes helps set a lifelong habit.
Allergies
If you have concerns about your little one having an allergy, then weaning throws another curve ball your way. But the journey doesn’t have to be much different, and you can start confidently with the right support.
